Barbara Acklin | Soulwalking | tc581
The Fantasions were a Chicago based vocal group of the 1960s. It is understood that the singer Barbara Acklin was a member of the group, which had records issued on Satellite (not the Memphis label) and Thomas, both labels distributed by Chess.
Singer, clerical worker and song writer Barbara Jean Acklin was born on February 28, 1943 in Oakland, California and moved with her family to Chicago, Illinois in 1948. She graduated and worked as a secretary at St. Lawrence Records. She also worked as a backing singer at Chess Records on recordings by Fontella Bass, Etta James, Koko Taylor, and others, before signing to Brunswick Records in 1966, where she found much success. Producer and musician Monk Higgins was related to her.
Ms Acklin died from the effects of pneumonia in Omaha, Nebraska, on November 27, 1998, age 55.
Can anyone confirm the line up of the Fantasions please.
