The Blind Boys of Alabama are a gospel group from Talladega, Alabama who were formed in 1944. The original line up was Johnny Fields (deceased) , George Scott (deceased), Olice Thomas (deceased), Vel Bozman Traylor (deceased) and Clarence Fountain (deceased). Their first broadcast was on 10 June 1944 on radio station WSGN.
The group, members may be blind or partially sighted, has toured extensively and made many recordings. There have been numerous personnel changes over the years.
