Musician, satirist and record producer Richard Dorian "Dickie" Goodman ("Dick Good") was born in Brooklyn, New York on 19 April 1934. He invented the "break in" technique - an early form of sampling - using clips of popular records to answer comedic questions poised by voice actors in a series of comedy records. His first successful recording of this type was "The flying saucer" in 1956, which also featured Bill Buchanan.
Dickie Goodman died in North Carolina on 6 November 1989 from a self-inflicted gun wound.
