Bull Moose Jackson | Beebopwinorrip | tc377
Singer and saxophonist Benjamin Clarence “Bull Moose” Jackson was born in Cleveland, Ohio on 22 April 1919. He switched to the saxophone after first learning the violin. He formed his first band in his teens and had a number of rhythm and blues hits in the 1940s and 1950s. He was signed to the Marterry Label, which became Argo and then Cadet, in 1956, but did not stay with Chess for long. We are not aware of US release numbers for his recordings for Marterry. He is best known for his earlier recordings for the King label. Bull Moose Jackson died from lung cancer in Cleveland, Ohio on 31 July 1989.
