English singer, guitarist, songwriter and actor John Andrew Wilkinson (Wilko Johnson) was born on Canvey Island, Essex on 12 July 1947 and is best known as a member of the 1970s pub rock/rhythm and blues band Dr. Feelgood. He played guitar using his fingers rather than a pick, which gave him a distinctive style. He was a major influence in the Punk Culture. In 2014 Chess released an album (“Going back home”) and single he recorded with Roger Daltrey, with considerable success.
Wilko Johnson died at home in Westcliff on Sea, Essex, UK, on 21 November 2022.
