Joy Lovejoy

Joy Lovejoy is the name on the label; there is only one known recording by the singer: In Orbit. It has been a Northern Soul classic for many years but Joy Lovejoy’s identity remained a mystery.

Preacher Gretha Joy Lovejoy Taylor, who died in 2002, is remembered for her singing, and had studied religion in Chicago, Illinois, at the time the recording was made. "Lovejoy" is a recognised surname. No images have been located. Gretha Joy Lovejoy Taylor may have been the lady who sings on the recording.
