Albert "Junior" Lowe | Birmingham Record Collectors | tc1084
Guitarist Albert "Junior" Lowe was born in Florence, Alabama in 1940 and began playing guitar age six. He joined his friend Rick Hall in a band called The Fairlanes. When Rick Hall left the band to set up the Fame studios, Albert Lowe replaced him on bass guitar in the band. He was soon playing on recording sessions and can be heard on Wilson Pickett's "Land of 1000 Dances", Etta James' "I'd rather go blind" and many other recordings. When some of the Fame musicians left to form the Muscle Shoals studios, Lowe stayed at Fame. Albert Lowe died after a long period of ill health including a stroke on 15 February 2025, aged 84 years.
