Huey P. Meaux and Lee Maye | Vocal Group Harmony | tc390
Rhythm and blues singer and sportsman Arthur Lee Maye was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on December 11, 1934. He had started singing with The Crowns in the 1950s. That was hardly surprising since his school friends went on to join The Platters, The Penguins and other groups. During the 1960s he was a full time sports player with the Milwaukee Braves who also made recordings, often with Huey P Meaux. He called himself a singing athlete. Lee Maye died from pancreatic cancer in Riverside, California on July 17, 2002.
