The recording “The Prom” (written by Del Shannon)/”Bye Bye Baby” by Dee Robb issued on Argo 5439 is actually by a band formed by brothers David R. Donaldson (Dee Robb), Robert Donaldson (Bruce Robb) and George Donaldson (Joe Robb). The band made a number of records under the names Dee Robb, Robby & the Robins, and Dee Robb & the Robins. After recording for Chess they recorded for Mercury and Atlantic but without huge success.

David R Robertson was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, on 8 June 1943 and died on 17 February 2008.

The Robb brothers are much better known for their work at their recording studio, which they set up originally in a Californian barn, and which attracted musicians and singers including Del Shannon; with success, they moved the studio to Los Angeles and named it Cherokee Studios, where artists of the calibre of Al Green and Steely Dan recorded; the Robb Brothers are thus associated with more than 200 gold or platinum records.
