The Revels

The Revels | Way Back Attack | tc351

The Revels (incorrectly hyphenated on the Chess label) formed in 1954, they were friends at high school in Philadelphia and are thought to have been John Grant, John Jones, John Kelly, Henry Colclugh and Bill Jackson, from Philadelphia. This recording dates from 1958. Bill Jackson (as Billy Jackson) joined The Tymes when this group folded. Although The Revels faded into history, they helped to establish the pattern for Philadelphian vocal groups.

Singer and A&R man/producer William Edward "Billy" Jackson III died on 23 April 2016.

All the other former Revels are undocumented.
